Seize the Day
Jan. 14th, 2026 12:22 am Today was a good day all told.
My board meeting went well. I've gotten things done. Some things put into motion.
Overall not a bad day.
I am also taking Friday off from work so that I can have a long weekend before classes begin next Tuesday. And since the library will be closed Saturday and Monday Dottie will also be off and we can go and do something before both of us have to return to our 'ruts' as it were. She's in a rut of a routine with taking care of her parents and her grandmother. I am in the rut of school and work with no life outside of the two.
I am dreading the start of this semester. I want more time to play in the stream of creativity. I wanted to have read more books by now and/or started on a new painting before classes.
I've got senioritis, but is it also called senioritis if you are just basically done with the rest of your life too?
I keep telling myself it will get easier once this is all over. The finish line is visible, resting just against the horizon line. Close enough that I want to slow down, but also far away enough to make me melancholy. I have placed markers along the route to sustain me.
"If I can just do something fun beforehand..."
"Once I'm done it will be summer and I can go see Sha and Michele!"
"I will be able to pay down more bills come summer time when I am not paying tuition."
I am already looking forward to the New Year's Eve of 2026. Being less in debt, finished with school, and back on track to do creative work along with work-work.
I am not wishing time away. But I am. I so am.
Deep breathes- just remember, Jenna, only 23 more years until retirement.
At least I finished one book. Reading for fun is such a privilege, isn't it? It was "Bread of Angels" by Patti Smith. SO GOOD. The last twenty pages I'll admit were a blur, but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. I took a picture of a paragraph in it with a really good quote I meant to put in this entry, but will have to wait as I only had 1% battery and had to put the phone on the charger.
Speaking of which, I may as well go and do the same thing.
Until next time...
