Look! An update!
Jun. 14th, 2004 12:56 amI have to say that my weekend was largely pleasurable. In fact, there wasn't really anything that went wrong. Yay for goodness!
Spent most of Saturday just watching tv and hanging around the room. When I looked in my fridge and realized that I only had one bottle of flavored water left, I decided that it was time to go get some groceries. Waited until the tv movie finished at 8 before heading out. Decided to IM Rose since she was actually on. And off we went. :) And between Rose's navigational skills and my driving abilities, we landed safely at Wal-Mart and obtained all of our junk. Somehow or another we ended up deciding to rent a video, and Rose found American Video. :) Decided to rent Amelie, because we both had wanted to see it. Plus, Jeff had given me quite a nice review for it. Sounded like a good 'pick-me-up' movie. Thus we rented it. And it was quite good...I loved it. Twas a very wonderful night all around, as it always is with Rose no matter what else is going on. :)
Today was much fun as well, with a lot of driving involved. (Yes, I know, surprise surprise!) Matthew had mentioned going to see the Raleigh Ringers,a group of professional ding a lings (handbell players), earlier in the week. So he called around 3 to inform me that they {he and his church group} were in Raliegh and nearing the BTI center. Now I had printed out directions and such, but somehow had it in my head that the show started at 4:30, when it really started at 4. So I made an effort to look semi-nice for the event and dashed out of my room, almost forgetting my cd's. (That would have been bad.) I actually made it to the BTI with minimum difficulty. I only made two wrong turns, but I did it all on my onesies! I was very proud of myself. :)
And to reitterate a point that Matthew has made, you've never truly lived until you've seen Bohemian Rhapsody performed by a handbell choir. It was simply amazing.
Now here comes the part where my making an effort to look fairly nice failed me. Bits, being a normal 12 year old, albeit a pretty adorable one, decided that she wanted to wear half of my jewelry. She managed to wrestle my Autobat wristband off of me for part of the show, and begged me to let her wear my earrings, (which she never obtained.) She also wanted to know what my shirt meant. I was sporting the Shenandoah Shakespeare Company shirt I bought for my birthday that reads, "We Do It With The Lights On." Not an easy thing to try to avoid explaining to a 12 year old girl. Thankfully, Patrick's mom thought up a beautiful little white lie to help get Bits off my case about it.
After the show was over, I decided that I didn't want to part ways just yet, and drove to Durham for dinner. Mind you, I had a hard enough time trying to find the BTI, that is located only three miles from the campus. Had it not been for Matthew and Bits on the walkie-talkie, I don't think I could have gotten there. :P
At any rate, dinner was most excellent. Good company and good food. I actually managed to drive all the way back to Raliegh by myself, on the highway, in the dark. (I'm so proud of myself, someone should surpress my fast swelling head.)
So to wrap it all up: I actually drove a lot today with few problems, and I got to see some wonderful people, with wonderful music, and yes, good food. :)
Time now for homework and bed. BLEH.
